Description: like the Markopolitis-Papadhakis Tower at Akadhimous, this tower is one of the few towers not built by the Venetians. It was created by Markakis Politis, who fought against the Franks from 1770 until about 1802, and was their sworn enemy and the darling of the Greeks. The House of the Politis’ was a great and powerful center of power for central and mountainous Naxos, thereby making a huge contribution to the opposition of Frankish feudalism on the island.
