 The “king of sports” on Naxos, windsurfing, is widespread throughout the island and is paramount not just off the best coastlines, but also off the most secluded ones. The “meltemi” winds, the northerly winds that grant us fresh air during the summer months, while at the same time creating the suitable conditions for the sport, have contributed decisively to the spread of windsurfing.
There are areas on the island for all player levels (beginner, advanced) and for all categories of windsurfing (speed, wave, slalom), while at the large tourist resorts (Ag. Georgios, Ag. Prokopios and Ag. Anna), schools operate to teach the sport, with specialized instructors. In addition, at organized windsurfing centers, necessary equipment for “extreme” adventures on the waves is provided.
 One can enjoy windsurfing at the organized beaches of Ag. Georgios, Ag. Prokopios, Ag. Anna and Mikri Vigla (considered a meeting point for friends far and wide of “windsailing”) as well as at Kastraki, Pyrgaki, Amiti, Aliko, and Agiassos.
